Learn About “Stone” mantel |
ALL RIGHTS RESERVED BY CLINT STONE COPYRIGHT 2005 |
One of many great things about natural stone mantel is that it requires very little maintenance. All the mantel we sold is sealed with high-grade penetrating stone sealer to prevent staining. |
To keep your stone mantel looking its best, year after year, here are a few important DOs and DON’Ts |
DON’Ts |
u We recommend dust the mantel shelf, header, legs and hearth area frequently. |
u You should not use soap on stone. It leaves a film which dulls the surface and promotes mildew |
u You should not use an acid or ammonia-based cleaner, because it could affect the color of the natural stone. Acid-based cleaners will cause natural stone finish to dull. You should not use vinegar and water - because vinegar is an acid. |
u If you use a cleaner, make sure it's neutral - non-acidic and non-alkaline, this is not necessary if you dust the mantel frequently.
|
u In case of liquid spills, blot away the excess with clean dry white cloth while turning the cloth frequently. Spray the area with a neutral stone cleaner and wipe off with a clean cloth. |
How to Maintain Your Natural Stone Fireplaces |
u You should not use steel wool pads or any abrasive on stone. These materials can scratch or dull the surface. Any loose particles of steel left on the grout will cause rust stains. |
Maintain you stone mantel is very simple, just dust your mantel frequently. |
